Position Description


JOB TITLE:                       Principal


DEPARTMENT:                Calvary Christian Academy                                


REPORTS TO:                 Head of School                            


STATUS:                          Exempt, Salary; 12-Month Full-Time 


HOURS:                           Full Time (40)


LOCATION:                     Calvary Christian Academy, Fort Lauderdale 



Purpose Statement:

The Principal is responsible to lead the development of education programs of Calvary Christian Academy to ensure that students grow spiritually, academically, and socially.  Successful performance results in glory to God and making disciples of Jesus Christ.



The specific focus of this position is to devise and oversee the implementation of plans, programs, policies, and procedures consistent with Gods Word after consulting with key Calvary Chapel and Calvary Christian Academy staff.  This position interacts with all members of the Calvary Christian Academy community to communicate, consult, instruct, encourage, correct, and counsel in order to accomplish ministry goals and objectives. 



  • Keeps the Head of School informed of the condition of the schools overall status on a consistent basis, assuring effective and timely communications to and from the Head of School and Lead Pastor/Executive Administration.

  • Committed to the dedication of excellence in the development of appropriate standards of performance in educational achievement, use and development of all CCA staff, public responsibility, ethical conduct, and operating efficiency.

  • Develops policies, plans, and procedures related to CCA's program in consultation with the Head of School and staff to effect smooth, safe, efficient, and effective operation of the school consistent with Gods Word.

  • Directing and facilitating necessary follow-up on any issues involving Faculty and Staff as well as any of the Student Body within the established policies and procedures.

  • Continually evaluating existing programs and practices, curriculum content, and developing future programs. 

  • Acting extension of CCA with other schools, offering support as requested and needed.

  • Meets with CCA families parents regarding serious spiritual concerns to provide support and accountability.

  • Makes decisions relating to a wide range of student situations including injury, illness, student discipline, and staff and parent needs.

  • Direct, oversee, and responsible for all aspects of CCA's Events such as, but not limited to: Chapels, CCA Orientation, PMD Schedule, Parent Teacher Fellowship, Back to School Night, New Staff Orientation Coordinator, Classroom Preview Day Coordinator

  • Responsible for the professional development and accreditation process for the school's continuous improvement plan.

  • Coordinating all the above responsibilities with the other CCA campuses to ensure proper communication is dispersed throughout all locations dealing with Early Education through fifth grade.

Faculty and Staff:

  • Provides motivation, direction, and instruction for  Assistant Principals, Assistant Administrators, School Teachers, Alternative Classroom Coordinator, Administrative Assistants, and Teacher Assistants to accomplish their professional duties and personal commitment/devotion to Jesus Christ.

  • Manage and facilitate the hiring and termination of staff in coordination with the  Head of School and Human Resources, following all policies and procedures.

  • Oversees and Directs teacher observations.

  • Oversees Assistant Principals and offers direction on their responsibilities as assigned on their specific job description.

  • Oversees Assistant Administrators and offers direction on their responsibilities as assigned on their specific job description.

  • Oversees annual academic and spiritual goals of Faculty and Staff.

  • Meeting with Team Leaders, facilitating communication and collaboration for the overall development of the Faculty and Student Body.

  • Developing and maintaining current materials/information, including but not limited to Faculty Handbook, Parent Handbook, Student Handbook, CCA webpages.

  • Oversees and conducts staff meetings, school team meetings, and class placement meetings.

  • Oversee and creates Faculty development goals such as classroom management and instructional methods/practices and appropriate standardized testing objectives, academic schedule

  • Develops and maintains safety awareness among staff.

  • Responsible for security and safety in all aspects of the CCA community working with the Security team, Safety Committee, and adhering to current and developing new policies and procedures.


  • Responsible for the attainment of short-term and long-term financial and operational vision and goals. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Directs and oversees all aspects of the schools mission, vision, and operational policies, objectives, and initiatives.

  • Responsible for development, implementation, and the maintenance of an appropriate budgetary procedure that is prepared and submitted properly in partnership with Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale team

  • Responsible for school financial accounts, personnel records, school population, scholastic records, and accreditation processes.

  • Responsible for overall staffing in the interviewing, approval, hiring process as well as the development, discipleship, and training of hired staff within budgetary parameters.

  • Provide for the optimum use of staff, working to ensure that school is staffed with competent people who delegated authority commensurate with their responsibilities and are dedicated to the philosophy of CCA.  Assists to define the duties and responsibilities of staff.

  • Prior to action, to recommend the hiring, discipline, or termination of employment of administrators, teaching, and non-teaching staff to the Head of School and the Human Resource Generalist.

  • Accountable to the proper handling of all funds, physical assets, and other property of the school and that they are appropriately safeguarded and administered in partnership with the Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale team.

  • Review quarterly report cards.

  • Oversees, directs, reviews, and is the initial authorization of purchase orders.

  • Oversee Principal of CCAH, attend weekly meetings on that campus, and provide daily support and mentoring as needed.

  • Summer Camp (with Assistant Principal running day to day)

  • Spanish Immersion program and partnership with Add.a.Lingua

Education Requirements:

  • Master Degree in Education

  • Maintenance of Academic classes and credits to maintain currency to the academic standards. 

  • Prior experience in school administration, at least 3 years of full-time teaching experience, ministry experience, and participation at Calvary Chapel preferred.


Work Schedule:

  • Full time (40 hours/week); however, may be required to work an evening or weekend day to attend a CCA event, or assist with a special project or in an emergency situation affecting the church facilities.
