Summary


The Press Brake Operator 1 assists experienced Press Brake Operators in laying out, shearing, cutting, notching, forming, rolling, assembling, grinding and/or welding by performing some of the following duties as assigned by supervisor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Uses blueprints for specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, sequence of operations, tooling and gauging instructions etc.


Lifts and/or operates forklift or electric transporter in unloading trucks, staging jobs, loading machines, etc.


Selects and positions flat, V-block, radius or special purpose die sets into ram and bed of machine; inserts shims and lifts dies with forklift or hoist as required.


Aligns and bolts dies to ram and bed of machine.


Lifts and positions workpiece between dies and machine. 


Re-positions workpiece and change dies when making multiple or successive passes.


Physically holds parts during processing (lay out, assembly, press brake, shear, etc.)


Distinguishes different types of material and its thickness with the use of a metal gauge.


Sets up and operates power shear or duplicator to cut metal objects such as plates, sheets, slabs, or bars to specified dimensions and angles.


Inspects parts to verify quality and operability at completion; confers with others to resolve problems.


Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.


Reports labor accurately daily.  


Other duties as assigned.


 


Requirements


2 years related education or job related experience with ability to learn job requirements


Experience in CNC Machining will also be considered as an alternative to Press Brake Operator experience


Ability to read and comprehend instructions and short correspondence


Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations to employees of the organization


Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and read/comprehend a tape measure


Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form


Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations


Maintain reliability and punctuality


Regularly stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms


Frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl


Occasionally sit and climb or balance
