General Summary



The ideal specialist is talented and experienced with content marketing anxious to make an impact on our dynamic in-house marketing team. Not just looking for a great writer, but is a strategic thinker who works collaboratively to craft a range of content types and messaging to match our target demographics and personas. This position requires exceptional interpersonal skills, strong written and oral communication, analytical, and planning skills with the ability to function effectively with minimal direction and drive projects to successful, timely completion.


 


Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities



  • Creates and manages the content calendar, ensuring the content strategy encompasses strategic objectives, addresses member pain points and opportunities for all personas and at all stages in the marketing funnel.

    • High-quality content includes: blog posts, website content, landing pages, eBooks, emails, social media posts, infographics, etc. that increase engagement, subscribers, awareness, and drive traffic and leads.

    • Supports the email marketing calendar, including our eNewsletter. Uses reporting and member behavior to make data-driven decisions on content performance and gaps.

    • Ensures deadlines/service level agreements (SLAs) are met to achieve productivity goals.



  • Collaborates with subject matter experts across the Credit Union to coordinate guest writer initiatives. Explores opportunities for outsourced content, where applicable.

  • Gauges content effectiveness through data gathering and using analytics to provide insight, tell the story of the results each month, and make recommendations for continuous improvement. Sets metrics and key performance indicators and reports on progress weekly and monthly.

  • Develops standards, systems, and best practices for content creation, distribution, maintenance, and repurposing. Builds procedures and conducts regular audits.

  • Optimizes content for search engines (SEO) and lead generation.

  • Develops a deep knowledge of all GECU products and services, the financial industry, and financial journeys and implements email marketing and content strategies to match target audiences and personas.

  • Regularly reviews the competitive landscape to look for opportunities and creative inspiration.

  • Works with the Brand Manager to ensure all efforts are on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality, and tone of voice. Must apply excellent copy-editing skills, ensuring proper use of grammar and spelling.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must understand and comply with all required federal and state regulations associated with this position.

  • Must be able to speak and understand fluent English.



 



Requirements:  Bachelors degree in related field plus 3+ years experience; editorial and/or content marketing experience required. A demonstrated ability to create compelling messages for different target demographics and personas, and to use data and metrics to measure the performance of content efforts. Exceptional writing, communication, proofreading, grammar, and editing capabilities; attention to detail, with consistency in style, tone, and voice. A creative thinker, with knowledge in data analytics and keyword search techniques. Must be able to manage multiple projects, tight deadlines, and shifting priorities with a positive, proactive attitude. A working knowledge of marketing fundamentals and digital marketing tactics, such as: SEO, web, and email marketing is required. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft 365, and Google Analytics is preferred.
